Tom Radford
Writer, Director, Producer

Appointed in 2020 as a Member of the Order of Canada for showcasing the history and culture of the western and northern regions of Canada through his films and documentaries, Tom Radford's career as a writer, director, and producer is intrinsically linked to the development of cultural industries in the west. He was also the recipient of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal and the Billington Award for lifetime contribution to Alberta film.

When Codebreakers was named Best Science & Adventure Documentary at the 2011 Geminis, it marked the tenth time Radford’s films have won national or international honours.  He has won the Best Director prize at the Alberta Film Awards on eight separate occasions, most recently for Tipping Point: The Age of the Oil Sands. His films have won honours from Guangzhou to the Banff World Television Festival, from New York to Yorkton, from San Antonio to Florence - leading to the Alberta Award of Excellence presented by Peter Lougheed.

Audience

Clearwater films are produced for a multi platform, multi generational audience, aware of the dangers to the planet that lie ahead, yet involved in the issues and confident solutions can be found.  The power of accessible interactive media - podcasts, smart phones, and the extended reach of television - provide the springboard for an exciting new audience for documentary film.
